Dan and Cherie

So, some of you know that we are living with another couple. It's been a huge blessing. This is Zoe with 2 of their cats. Two weeks ago it was a beautiful spring day, and the four of us went fishing. Those are the fish that I caught for dinner. Just wanted to share a bit. I have a few more things to update about and will hopefully do so soon.

Finally Home

This past week has been a blur. It’s gone too fast and life has just gone on. Grandpa died on the fourth. A little after 5 p.m., his friend Tom left the office after spending a good amount of time chattin’ and laughin.’ My Dad came around 5:15 to pick him up and found him “asleep” in the chair. It’s funny how one minute they’re there and then, they’re gone. Life is so short.

I was able to share about the Marathon I ran last fall to a few who asked about it. I hadn’t talked about it in quite a while, so the emotions around it were there in full force especially with the circumstances. Again, I was reminded of this race we’re all in and how much we fight to reach the finish line. I was talking about the last turn in the race where I could see the finish line and I thought about Grandpa. He’d made it! All that pain and fighting was done, and the welcoming party must have been quite a sight. If you haven’t run a long race, do it. It’s a beautiful picture of what our journey and homecoming might be like.

Grandpa never was quite sure he had done “enough” to make it home. When Jeremy told me my Mom had called to tell me Grandpa had past away, one of my first thoughts was “you made it!” I pictured him in heaven saying to himself, “I’m here? I’m really here!!! And God just wrapping his arms around him, smiling, saying back, ‘Yes, Lowel, you’re finally home! I had no questions about you getting here.”

The following words are by Mercy Me:

I'm gonna wrap my arms around my daddy's neck and tell him that I've missed him
And tell him all about the man that I became and hope that it pleased him
There's so much I want to say there's so much i want you to know.

[chorus]
When I finally make it home, when I finally make it home.

Then I'll gaze upon the throne of the King frozen in my steps
And all the questions that I swore I would ask words just won't come yet
So amazed at what I've seen so much more than this old mind can hold.
[back to chorus]

And the sweetest sound my ears have yet to hear voices on angels. [back to chorus]
